The Session w/ Martin Marnell & Ben Little

The origins of the ’session’ come from an unplugged and eclectic place. No song, genre or era is excluded. It’s all about the song. More often than not we are playing songs we have never even heard before, let alone played before. Sometimes original songs get an airing as well.

About the Event

The origins of the ’session’ come from an unplugged and eclectic place. No song, genre or era is excluded.

It’s all about the song. More often than not we are playing songs we have never even heard before, let alone played before.

Sometimes original songs get an airing as well. From ballads to traditional to rock and blues, songs can come from anywhere.

We love finding gems that are really well known but seldom heard live and every musician brings something different to the table.

Some magic moments have been created by simply ‘flying by the seat of our pants!’

The ‘session’ has been entertaining audiences in Balmain for 20 years now with over 15 musicians as part of the family.

Loose, relaxed and fun is the atmosphere we always try to create.

Martin Marnell

Martin is an Irish born Aussie who discovered his minstrel skills as a teenager.

He is a singer/guitar player with a love of acoustic music and particularly folk. He is a founding

member of a musical entity known as the ‘Session’. The Session has been going for 18 years and is a

sit down musical chairs, with a relaxed, fun and eclectic approach and very well known on the

Balmain Peninsula. Martin was born an entertainer and always brings an element of surprise and

positivity to his performances!

Ben Little

Ben is a singer/songwriter and has been in the Sydney music industry for over 40 years.

He has played with Swanee, Alex Smith (Moving Pictures), and many more. Ben brings a different

guitar to every gig and plays electric and acoustic as well as 12 string, resonator, mandolin and bass.

Presently with The Bell and Concord Joe, he also plays in several tribute shows including The Beatles,

Creedence Clearwater Revival, Tom Petty, Neil Young, and Paul Kelly/Neil Finn.
